HOW TO START A NYCCE CHAPTER

If there are no NYCCE chapters in your area, don't despair -- start your own!

It''s easy to begin.  And we are here to help.

The first thing you want to do is have a NYCCE speaker address a group of your friends or an orgnaization you belong to.  The presentation would include an explanation of what Clean Elections is all about, what's happening in New York, and a Bill Moyer's video on how Clean Elections is working in Maine and Arizona,  where Clean Elections have been in place since 1996.

After the presentation, circulate a sheet asking those present if they want to start a NYCCE chapter in your area to help pass New York's Clean Elections bill, which in some respects is even stronger than the Maine and Arizona versions.

Then, within the next few days invite everyone who signs the sheet to a meeting to start a chapter.  Also invite a NYCCE representative, The representative will help with the by-laws, provide sample literature, and offer assistance as needed to help your chapter grow.

To Summarize:      1) Invite a NYCCE speaker

                              2) Circulate a signup sheet titled, "Yes, I want a Clean Elections Chapter in My Town."

                              3) Set up a meeting of those who signed the sheet.

                              4) Invite a NYCCE representative to the meeting to help set up the chapter
