Choose your individual, and find their address at the State Wide Web site: www.state.ny.us Sender Name Today's Date Recipient Dear Recipient As a registered voter in New York State, I am writing to strongly urge you to support Clean Money/Clean Elections campaign finance reform. I feel that politics is too dominated by big money interests, and full public financing of campaigns is the only way to restore democracy in our state. How can we believe that women's issues, senior issues, minority issues, consumer issues, environmental issues, disability issues and others will be adequately addressed when we see huge donations to political campaigns from interests which oppose those concerns, or even cause the problems that need to be solved? In addition, every year our state government allocates billions of dollars to tax cuts and other benefits for wealthy businesses and individuals, while at the same time claiming that we don't have enough money in the public coffers to fund education, social welfare, environmental cleanup, and many other programs. Voters are expected to just accept that our tax money will be allocated to make the rich even richer, while many citizens cannot receive the social services they desperately need. This is unacceptable! There is a way to eliminate this problem-Clean Money/Clean Elections. Removing private money from elections is the only way to level the playing field and give average citizens back their voice in government. Full public financing would make progress easier on EVERY issue of concern to voters. I, for one, will not vote for any candidate who does not support Clean Money/Clean Elections. Seventy percent of New York voters support Clean Elections reform, and similar systems have worked well in Maine and Arizona. Tell me and all New Yorkers that you will actively support Clean Money/Clean Elections. Sincerely, Your Name (Town, New York)
