WHY CLEAN ELECTIONS?

Fairness and justice, and access to democracy.

How can we believe that women’s issues, senior issues, minority issues, health issues, consumer issues, environmental issues, disability issues, education issues, police and fire issues, homeland security issues and others will be adequately addressed when we see huge donations to political campaigns from interests which oppose those concerns, or even cause the problems that need to be solved?

Every year our state government allocates billions of dollars to tax cuts and other benefits for wealthy businesses and individuals, while at the same time claiming that we don’t have enough money in the public coffers to fund education, better healthcare, helping the disabled, environmental cleanup, improving police departments, and many other programs. Voters are expected to just accept that our tax money will be allocated to make the rich even richer, while many citizens cannot receive the social services they desperately need. This is unacceptable!

Clean Money/Clean Elections can eliminate this problem. Removing private money from elections is the only way to level the playing field and give average citizens back their voice in government. Full public financing would make progress easier on EVERY issue of concern to voters, and is achievable if enough citizens refuse to vote for candidates who do not support Clean Money/Clean Elections.

Currently, seventy percent of New York voters support Clean Elections reform, and similar systems have worked well in Maine and Arizona.

Clean Money / Clean Elections... it's time to clean up this mess.
