Numbers for the Clean Money/Clean Elections bill in the 2005-2006 Legislative Session are S2401 in the Senate and A5506 in the Assembly. Although they have different numbers, they are identical and provide full public funding for candidates who meet the qualification requirements. Bills S2401 and A5506 are virtually the same as they were in the previous Legislative Session.

To read or print the summary, memo in support, (which has more information than the summary), or the full text of the Senate bill for Clean Money/Clean Elections (which NYCCE supports), go to www.senate.state.ny.us  and type in S2401. To read or print the Assembly bill, go to www.assembly.state.ny.us and type in A5506.

Recently, a Campaign Finance Reform bill (A8) passed in the NYS Assembly. NYCCE does not support this bill since it does not remove PRIVATE MONEY from the Electoral Process.  Instead, it supplements private money with public money, which polls show people overwhelmingly do not favor because "it is just throwing good money after bad." To see this bill go to the following link and type in A8 : www.assembly.state.ny.us

There is also a Judicial Campaign Finance Reform bill in the NYS Assembly. This is limited to selected Judicial races and also does not remove PRIVATE MONEY from the Electoral Process. Like bill A8, it is unsatisfactory in that it supplements private money with public money.

You will then need to click on the box labeled TEXT to read the full bill
